Yes.  We are a 501c3 non-profit corporation here in the USA.  100 % of your gifts are tax deductible.  To save on administrative expenses, you will receive receipt for tax purposes.  If your e-mail is current, you will receive an email receipt each time you give.

There is a minimal administrative costs for your funds donated to ICMC through Global Development Group. ICMC in India uses 100 percent of your sponsorship funds for the care of the whole child – physically, spiritually, and educationally.

Any undesignated funds you send above your sponsorship amount feeds, clothes, houses and educates all the other orphans who do not have a sponsor.  It improves the food, clothing, housing and education of all the children, resulting in improvements for your sponsored child too.  If you designate your funds to a certain project (such as land purchase, water projects etc) it will be used specifically for that project.

We discourage physical gifts for several important reasons.  Those gifts often get stolen before they arrive at ICMC.  ICMC may have to pay customs to receive them.  It is unfair to the other children, creating a competitive atmosphere.  Often gifts we would choose here in the US are not applicable to them.  However, you may send extra money at any time for birthday and Christmas.  It will go towards school supplies and backpacks for school or the new outfits or “dresses” that your godchild and all the children will receive for their Christmas and New Years presents.  Write to them!!! That is the greatest gift you can give them.

Write to them!!!  Send them a photo of you and your pets or your children.  When we asked children to show us their “treasures” in their little trunks, they pulled out pictures and letters from their sponsors.  Things do not love them.  People do.

You will receive a newsletter via email every other month updating you on ICMC happenings.  If we don’t have your email, PLEASE let us know as this is the primary way we can communicate with you without incurring cost.  Your child will also write to you several times a year as part of their school writing projects.  Remember that many children only know Tamil so their letters (and yours) are translated.  Also, remember that many children are quite young and letter writing skills are often helped along by an adult.

YES!  Please DO write letters and send photos of yourself and your family, coloring pages, bookmarks, cards, a deflated balloon…anything that doesn’t change the shape of a letter (such as jewelry).  They treasure any communication from their sponsor.  It makes them feel very special.  Ask questions.  Get to know them.  They are real children. They love to draw pictures for you and they treasure any communication they receive from you.  Consider yourself a mentor in their spiritual and emotional development.

It costs about $1.00 in stamps to send a regular letter.  Write AIRMAIL on the front and drop it in the mailbox to:

Most are children of widows, prisoners, lepers, or pure orphans left to fend for themselves on the street.  Most of the children come to the orphanage by someone dropping them off at the front door because they cannot feed, house or educate them.

ICMC has an International Council, with US representatives.  We also have an International Board of Directors that are committed to visiting ICMC and are accountable to all the requirements of the IRS. ICMC is audited annually by a third party auditor.  We also send project teams often throughout the year.

There is an International Board, but there are advocates or representatives in Australia, the UK, Ireland, Holland, and the USA.
