What we Do?

Educational
Training

Beyond providing housing and food for the children, ICMC strives to provide an education for all the children under our care.

ICMC runs several schools at all age levels. One school, St Basils Matriculation, is an English medium school, which offers classes in English and a higher level of education. Like the colleges above, fee paying students keep the schools running and profits are directed back into ICMC’s non-profit activities. Many students at this school are from the orphanage, and study free of charge as well.”

St. Basil Matriculation School

The St. Basil Matriculation School is located close to the main offices of ICMC. It is within walking distance for the children at Mission Centre. The mode of teaching is in English. The students attending St. Basil are mostly fee paying students from Salem. Their fees cover the operating cost of the schools as well as making it possible for some orphans to attend the school also. We are in the process of adding two more floors to the school (as shown in pictures above) which will enable us to increase the number of students attending St. Basil.

St. Graham Stuart Staines Memorial Primary, Middle, High and Higher Secondary School

The Dr Graham Staines Memorial School is also located at the Promised Lands and caters only for our orphan students, who also live at the Promised Land. The school was named in memory of Dr Graham Staines who was an Australian missionary who was killed in the Northern Indian State of Orissa. From 1st Std to 12th Std Children study at St. Graham and the mode of teaching is in Tamil (Local Language).

St. Neva Miller School

The St Neva Miller School is an English Medium school were all the classes are conducted in English. Most of our students are from the Promised Land orphanage. The rest are students are from the nearby tribal/rural villages. All classes are conducted in English.

The schools that are run by the ICMC are for all age group children. Our aims is to have schools from primary all the way through the university level available for the children so that their education may continue in Christian surroundings. This let ICMC to run colleges to educate our orphan children.

ICMC' Higher Educational Care

ICMC also runs several college and is currently embarking on a vocational training centre program that provides a means towards self-sufficiency (through fee-paying students) as well as providing free scholarships to orphans and other disadvantaged children. At present we have degrees in nursing, teaching, computer sciences, arts and english with a vocational skills centre to open in the future providing “blue collar” skills such as welding and plumbing. ICMC also supports orphans through colleges outside ICMC wherever possible so that children can raise themselves out of poverty through a solid education.
