Poverty is one of the deadliest scourges that has afflicted mankind since ages. In India, statistical surveys reveal an alarming increase in the number of poor people day-by-day. If the ratio of poor increases at such a quick pace matters will infallibly become worse. As a result, a poor family finds it extremely difficult and even impossible to make its ends meet. Thus, the burden of poverty upon the poor masses in India is indeed shocking. Innocent little children are the worst sufferers in this regard. The future of millions of children in India has become bleak and uncertain owing to poverty.

Education is a powerful weapon which can be used to fight the pangs of poverty. By imparting compulsory and free education we can transform the lives of the poor children and nurture in them the very values, ethics and morals which would make them responsible citizens and ideal human beings tomorrow. Thus, education will certainly herald a renaissance for these poor and down trodden children. ICMC has been witnessing the fruitful results of education among the children it has brought up under its care over the years. An educated child develops a greater understanding and a deeper insight in real life situations and can tackle problems with a systematized solution centred approach. Thus, education is a noble service to the poor but capable children. In this perspective, helping a child how to survive becomes the greatest gift for the children. Even a poor child has the right to education.
